Overview Introduction Remo-Zen Tablet is used by itself or in combination with other medicines to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps control the high blood sugar levels seen in diabetes. This reduces the chances of serious complications of diabetes and also helps prevent heart disease. Remo-Zen Tablet can be taken with or without food at any time of day but you should try to take it at the same time every day. The dose will be decided by your doctor. Do not stop taking it without asking your doctor. If you do, your blood sugar levels may increase and put you at risk of serious complications like kidney damage and blindness. This medicine is only part of a treatment program that should include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor. The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, frequent urge to urinate, increased thirst, urinary tract infections, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). Drinking plenty of fluids while using it will help prevent dehydration. Some people may develop fungal infections in the genital area. Maintaining good hygiene can help prevent this. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems or a urinary tract infection or if you are on water pills (diuretics). Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Avoid excessive alcohol intake while taking it as this may increase the risk of developing some side effects. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly while taking this medicine. The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist. Coping with Nausea You can help yourself by eating small, frequent meals rather than large ones and drinking plenty of fluids. Eat slowly. Avoid fatty, fried, spicy and very sweet foods. Eat cold or slightly warm food if the smell of cooked or cooking food makes you feel sick. Get plenty of fresh air. You could also try chewing ginger or drinking ginger tea. Eat bananas to replace potassium in your blood which can drop if you are sick (vomit). Use oral rehydration salts to replace vitamins and minerals lost through being sick. There are some medicines that can help you stop from feeling sick. Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve. Coping with Frequent urge to urinate There are some exercises that can improve bladder control and help you to hold urine for longer. Avoid foods and drinks which remove water from your body. These include alcohol, caffeine, carbonated soft drinks and chocolate and are known as “diuretic”. Some foods such as apples and citrus fruits and juices may also increase the urge to urinate. Avoid drinking near bedtime. If you are in a public place, try to make sure you know where the nearest toilets are. Ask your doctor what is the best time to take your medicine. Coping with Urinary tract infection Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to treat a urinary tract infection. Most will clear up within a few days. Try some natural remedies like taking cranberry juice and probiotics for help. To ease the pain, try taking painkiller medicine. You can also try placing a hot water bottle or heat pad on your tummy or between your thighs. Rest and drink plenty of fluids (not alcohol or caffeine) to help flush the bacteria out of your body.
