Overview Introduction Metoz 5 Tablet is a type of diuretic (water pill) medicine. This medicine reduces excess fluid levels in the body and is used to treat edema (fluid overload) associated with heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease. It is also used in treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Metoz 5 Tablet makes you lose excess water through urine. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. This medicine should be taken only during day time to avoid frequent urination at night. You must take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor and never stop it abruptly without consulting the doctor. Common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, and dizziness. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you. Before taking this medicine, it is better to let your doctor know if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before taking it. You must inform the doctor about all the other medicines that you are taking apart from this medicine. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is important while using this medicine. Uses of Metoz Tablet Hypertension (high blood pressure) Side effects of Metoz Tablet Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist. Coping with Headache Make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Rest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Do not sleep more than you normally would. Do not strain your eyes (for example by looking at a screen). Do not drink alcohol. Headaches are usually temporary and usually go away with time. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metoz 5 Tablet is to be taken with food. How Metoz Tablet works Metoz 5 Tablet is a thiazide diuretic. It lowers blood pressure and fluid retention in edema by removing the extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Safety Advice Alcohol UNSAFE It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Metoz 5 Tablet. Pregnancy SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Metoz 5 Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies. Breastfeeding SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Metoz 5 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Driving UNSAFE Metoz 5 Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As Metoz 5 Tablet may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or lightheadedness and this may affect your ability to drive. Kidney SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Metoz 5 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Metoz 5 Tablet is recommended. Liver CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR There is limited information available on the use of Metoz 5 Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor. What if you forget to take Metoz Tablet? If you miss a dose of Metoz 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
