Overview Introduction Fertomid 25 Tablet is a medicine used to treat female infertility. It is used in women who are unable to become pregnant, due to ovulation problems or suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Fertomid 25 Tablet should be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time every day to get the most benefit. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. It is not a safe medicine for long term use, hence it is usually advisable for a period of 3 menstrual cycle. The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, bloating, headache and hot flushes. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. Some serious side effects which mean your doctor should know immediately include ovary over stimulation (pelvic pain, stomach pain, trouble breathing and weight gain), and blurring of vision. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had an early menopause or infertile, or have ovarian fibroids or swollen ovary. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine. The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist. Coping with Nausea You can help yourself by eating small, frequent meals rather than large ones and drinking plenty of fluids. Eat slowly. Avoid fatty, fried, spicy and very sweet foods. Eat cold or slightly warm food if the smell of cooked or cooking food makes you feel sick. Get plenty of fresh air. You could also try chewing ginger or drinking ginger tea. Eat bananas to replace potassium in your blood which can drop if you are sick (vomit). Use oral rehydration salts to replace vitamins and minerals lost through being sick. There are some medicines that can help you stop from feeling sick. Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve. Drink and chew your food slowly. Exercise regularly to improve how your body digests food. Try not to swallow too much air. This can happen when you talk and eat at the same time. Avoid drinking with a straw, chewing gum and smoking as these can also make you swallow air. Try to limit foods that are hard to digest or produce gas (such as fried and fatty foods, cheese, beans, cabbage, onion, whole grains and many others). Avoid drinking alcohol, carbonated soft drinks and fruit juices. If you wear dentures, make sure they fit properly. Some over-the-counter medicines can help. Talk to your doctor about possible medication if your condition does not improve. Coping with Headache Make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Rest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Do not sleep more than you normally would. Do not strain your eyes (for example by looking at a screen). Do not drink alcohol. Headaches are usually temporary and usually go away with time. But, if they last longer or get worse, ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Coping with Hot flashes Sip cold or iced drinks. Try cutting down on coffee, tea and alcohol. It might help to keep the room cool and use a fan. You could also spray cool water on your face. Wear layers of light clothing that you can easily take off if you overheat. Breathe deeply and try to relax. Have a lukewarm shower or bath instead of a hot one. Avoid smoking and cut down on alcohol. The flushing should go away after a few days. If it does not go away or causes problems, contact your doctor. There may be medicines that can help. Coping with Breast discomfort Use hot or cold compresses on your breasts. You could try some pain-relieving creams or gels. Wear bras which fit well. Wear a soft support bra when you sleep and a good sports bra when you are exercising. Avoid consuming caffeinated drinks as it can increase the discomfort. Limit your salt intake as it contributes to water retention which causes pain and swelling. Talk to your doctor because in many cases, it is possible to treat breast pain with over-the-counter medicines. show more show less How to use Fertomid Tablet Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor.
